The Honda Civic Si is back! Sort of. Here’s what we know.
Honda announced today that the long rumored Civic Si will be coming next year, and the prototype shares many features as the production version. Here what we know so far.
The Civic Si started off as a coupe, and slowly grew to encapsulate both couple and sedan as available options. The prototype debuted as a Coupe, however, Honda has confirmed that it will be a sedan too. Sadly there is no hatch option for the Si, and this is due to the fact that all hatches are built in the United Kingdom, while coupes and sedans are made here in Canada, making it more cost effective.
The prototype Si was shown off in Rallye Red Pearl but unfortunately it won’t be offered on the production Si, however, the previous generation’s Rallye Red will be the signature colour.
3. Coupe or Sedan?
The new Honda Civic Si will feature 1.5-liter turbo, 4-cylinder will make more than the ninth-gen Honda Civic Si’s 205 horsepower 4-cylinder, and only have a manual transmission.
4. Honda Factory Performance Options.
The Honda Civic Si prototype showed off the HFP 19-inch wheel and tire setup and drilled rotors. Sadly, these are not standard but will be an option from dealers. More HFP parts and gadgets are rumored to be released soon.
The Honda Civic Si will be sharing the exhaust mounting with the other, sportier Honda Civics including, the hatch, the Sport Touring, and the Type R.
